Abuse’s toll

I read your story on Victor Salva and how sorry he is for molesting Nathan Forrest Winters [“Victor Salva’s Horror Stories,” June 11]. I am a psychotherapist who works with adults who have been molested as children. I have a problem with the fact that Salva thinks 15 months in jail is enough to atone for what he did.

How long has Nathan Winters been in an emotional prison? Molestation can cause years of pain and dysfunction. Has Salva agreed to pay for Nathan’s therapy to recover from this abuse? Has he shared the financial profits he has made from that movie? Maybe then I will believe he is truly sorry.
