Military Official Killed in Bombing Near Capital
From Times Wire Reports
A suspected suicide bomber killed the deputy chief of staff of Sri Lanka’s military, along with his driver and a civilian today in an attack attributed to Tamil Tiger rebels.
The attack, about 10 miles east of the capital, Colombo, apparently targeted the vehicle carrying Gen. Parami Kulathunga, but also hit a nearby commuter bus. It comes on the heels of ambushes and military clashes that have killed about 700 people and have touched off fears that a two-decade civil war will resume.
