Ousted Premier Refuses to Be Questioned

The ousted prime minister failed to appear for questioning over gunrunning charges that contributed to his downfall, saying he was immune from prosecution, the prosecutor said.
Former leader Mari Bin Amude Alkatiri instead chose to address about 1,000 cheering supporters at the university in Dili, East Timor’s capital.
He also said there was no need to dissolve parliament and hold early elections, something President Jose Alexandre Gusmao says is essential.
