From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A Lodi man accused of attending an Al Qaeda training camp showed disdain for the United States after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, at one point referring to President Bush as “the worm,” according to court documents.

On Wednesday, federal prosecutors in the trial of Hamid Hayat finished reading transcripts of his taped conversations with an FBI informant into the record. Defense lawyers are expected today to cross-examine the paid informant, Naseem Khan.

Hayat, 23, is charged with material support of terrorist activity and three counts of lying to FBI agents. He faces up to 39 years in prison.
