Hyman Kotkin, father of magician David Copperfield, died of complications from Alzheimer’s disease Feb. 23 at UCLA Medical Center. He was 83. As president of his son’s fan club, Kotkin headed fundraising for Project Magic, which teams with hospitals to use magic as therapy for disabled patients.
