Man Pleads Guilty to Child Porn Charge
A Joshua Tree man pleaded guilty Friday to a federal charge of possessing child pornography after FBI agents monitored Internet chat rooms he frequented to trade and distribute the images, officials said.
Gordon Douglas Cope, 58, previously was convicted of attempted sexual assault on a child. He will face from 10 to 20 years in federal prison when sentenced July 10 in U.S. District court in Los Angeles.
Federal investigators confiscated Cope’s two computers, which held nearly 700 photos and 20 videos of the sexual abuse of minors as young as 5.
