You Can Rely on Them to Drive for the Dough

Being an avid PGA Tour fan I can’t help but be dismayed by NBC’s new ad strategy: The “FedEx Reliability Zone,” a bluish haze on the middle of the fairway, ostensibly depicting the best driving spot for optimum scoring, in reality a product placement ad.

As annoying as this is, I can’t help but wonder if it’s just a precedent for more of the same. Could “Lays Chips Around the Green,” “Buick’s Greatest Drives” or “Evian’s Favorite Water Holes” be far away?

I guess my only form of protest is to write an open letter. That and boycott their product; go with a rival. How about it, UPS? You’re always asking, “What can brown do for you?” Simple, you want my business, stay off the golf course!
