Articles Juxtapose Greed, Human Suffering

Regarding: “Boeing’s Ousted Chief Gets $11.5 Million in ‘05,” March 8:

I am sick with disillusionment and disgust when I read -- all too frequently -- articles about over-privileged corporate executives like Boeing’s fleeting chief executive, Harry Stonecipher, being paid obscene amounts of money, in this case, double-digit millions for three months of work.

Juxtapose this article with those in other sections of The Times about the homeless, mentally ill, uninsured and seniors who can’t afford vital medications, employees bilked out of secure retirements and other examples of human despair.

What “values” drive us to this outcome?
