The Cincinnati Reds acquired catcher David Ross on Tuesday in a trade with the San Diego Padres for right-hander Bobby Basham.

The 29-year-old Ross batted a combined .240 with three homers and 15 RBIs in 15 games for Pittsburgh and San Diego last season. He started his career with the Dodgers.

Basham, a seventh-round draft pick in 2001, was 22-22 with a 3.55 earned-run average in 57 minor league games over the last four years.

To make room for Ross, the Reds designated right-hander Jason Standridge for assignment.

Milton Bradley views each of his spring-training hits as a little slap at the Dodgers for giving up on him.

Bradley had a two-run homer and a double in the Oakland Athletics’ 6-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.

“People in L.A. can pick up their paper and see the box scores and see me in them,” Bradley said. “Today, they can see a couple of knocks.... I got seven hits last spring training. I’ve got eight or nine now, so I’m ahead of schedule.

“I know the Giants, the San Diego Padres, the Colorado Rockies will be glad I’m not with the Dodgers anymore.”

Left-handers Sean Burnett and Tom Gorzelanny, two of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ top prospects, were optioned to triple A. Also sent to Indianapolis was first baseman Brad Eldred, who hit 12 homers in 190 at-bats with the Pirates late last season, outfielder Rajai Davis and infielder Yurendell DeCaster.
