A story that needed to be told

Homelessness is the shame of this rich nation, which seems to come up short with prevention, insight and solutions. Steve Lopez’s story on Lee Sevilla puts right in our faces the plight of this courageous woman and the pride she holds onto so dearly at any cost, especially to her health, safety and well-being. At what point do we realize how important humanity is? There is something very wrong when, after making tremendous strides in technology and science, we just can’t figure out something so simple as how to help our fellow men and women. I guess it’s all about priorities, and maybe they are upside down. Lopez is a decent man with a humane conscience who tells the stories that need to be told.
