Hotel Waiter in Labor Fight Fired, Union Says
A Hilton Los Angeles Airport waiter whose suspension touched off union protests and the suspension of at least 67 workers has been fired, union officials said Saturday.
Sergio Reyes, who the union said was fired late Friday, had been suspended Wednesday for reasons not publicly disclosed.
Local 11 of Unite Here, a union that is attempting to organize workers at the Hilton and a dozen other LAX-area hotels, alleged publicly and in a complaint filed with the National Labor Relations Board that Reyes was fired for supporting the union.
Hotel officials have declined to comment on the case, citing privacy concerns.
