Animal Rights Activists Guilty of Illegal Protest
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Two animal rights activists were convicted Thursday in Superior Court of holding a protest outside the Larchmont Village home of a city animal shelter employee in June 2004.
Pamelyn Ferdin and Jerry Vlasak were convicted of one count each of violating a law that forbids protests within 100 feet of individuals’ homes. Ferdin was also found guilty of trespassing.
Ferdin is the leader of the Animal Defense League, which is trying to stop the euthanasia of dogs in city shelters. Vlasak is her husband.
