City Urged to Change Approach to Unions

Controller Laura Chick released a study Thursday that found that the city has an often rocky relationship with the 25 labor unions that represent many city employees.
The study called for the city to adopt a more consistent approach to the unions and share more economic information about the budget and other indicators with them.
The study also found that six categories of city employees receive better pay than their private-sector counterparts.
