The tabloid culture suffered two setbacks in Hong Kong on Wednesday.

An Indonesian maid who worked for a Hong Kong magazine editor was sentenced to four weeks in jail for trying to photograph an ailing actress in her hospital ward.

Yuyun Triyuliarti pleaded guilty to using a digital camera concealed in a backpack to photograph veteran actress Lydia Sum at the intensive care unit of Hong Kong’s Queen Mary Hospital on Oct. 1, a court document said. The 24-year-old domestic helper didn’t reveal her motive.

Meanwhile, another Hong Kong court upheld its earlier decision that an edition of a weekly gossip magazine was “indecent” for showing photos of a pop star changing her clothes backstage, a court official said.
