The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan and Iraq, along with a Canadian resident serving in the U.S. Army:

Michael V. Bailey, 20, of Waldorf, Md.; private, Army. Bailey died of noncombat-related injuries Oct. 27 in Salerno, Afghanistan, near the border of Pakistan. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 25th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Ft. Drum, N.Y.

Kenneth E. Bostic, 21, of Hawthorne, Nev.; sergeant, Army. Bostic was killed Monday when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire at a checkpoint in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 204th Military Police Company, 519th Military Police Battalion, 1st Combat Support Brigade at Ft. Polk, La.

Michael P. Bridges, 23, of Placentia; private, Army. Bridges died of noncombat-related injuries Thursday in Taji, Iraq, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Isaiah Calloway, 23, of Jacksonville, Fla.; specialist, Army. Calloway was killed in an ambush Monday while on patrol in Marah, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment in Hohenfels, Germany.

Kyu H. Chay, 34, of Fayetteville, N.C.; staff sergeant, Army. Chay was killed Oct. 28 when a roadside bomb exploded near his convoy vehicle in central Afghanistan’s Oruzgan province. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Kraig D. Foyteck, 26, of Skokie, Ill.; sergeant, Army. Foyteck was killed Monday when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska.

Jason Franco, 18, of Corona; private first class, Marine Corps. Franco died Tuesday in a nonhostile incident in Iraq’s Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 11, Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing in Miramar, Calif.

Luke B. Holler, 21, of Bulverde, Texas; lance corporal, Marine Corps Reserve. Holler was killed Thursday when a roadside bomb exploded near him in Iraq’s Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve in San Antonio.

Minhee Kim, 20, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; lance corporal, Marine Corps Reserve. Kim was killed in combat Wednesday in Iraq’s Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve in Lansing, Mich.

Gary A. Koehler, 21, of Ypsilanti, Mich.; corporal, Marine Corps. Koehler was killed in combat Wednesday in Iraq’s Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Michael H. Lasky, 22, of Sterling, Alaska; corporal, Marine Corps Reserve. Lasky was killed in combat Thursday in Iraq’s Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska.

Troy D. Nealey, 24, of Eaton Rapids, Mich.; lance corporal, Marine Corps Reserve. Nealey was killed in combat Oct. 29 in Iraq’s Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve in Lansing, Mich.

Michael T. Seeley, 27, of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada; sergeant, Army. Seeley was killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Michael R. Weidemann, 23, of Newport, R.I.; sergeant, Army. Weidemann was killed Tuesday when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Hit, Iraq, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division in Giessen, Germany.

Luke J. Zimmerman, 24, of Luxemburg, Wis.; sergeant, Marine Corps. Zimmerman was killed in combat Oct. 27 in Iraq’s Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
