2 carry $4 million in cash into Gaza
Two Hamas legislators were allowed to cross into the Gaza Strip from Egypt with more than $4 million in their luggage.
One of the two had been detained Tuesday by Egyptian security officials and had his bundle of cash briefly confiscated.
Since the militant Islamic group formed a Palestinian government in March, Western donors have refused to transfer aid unless Hamas recognizes Israel, renounces violence and abides by Israeli-Palestinian agreements.
A number of Palestinian officials have resorted to carrying large amounts of Arab aid in cash.
