Going along for the ‘Ride’

So XES in Hollywood, next door to Sharky’s in the Cahuenga Corridor, is poised to become a nightclub called Sugar, which makes its debut Nov. 28 with a new promotion called Rock Candy. It’s the handiwork of doorman-turned-club-promoter Steven Harlow, along with partners PrettyBoy Productions, CeCe Fumat and actor Michael Bellisario. Expect DJ Graham Funky at the helm.... That Josh Homme is a tall drink of water. Despite shrouding himself under a hoodie, the Queens of the Stone Age frontman was among the stars who turned out Saturday night to celebrate Steve Olson and Jason Jessee’s big art hoo-ha at Powerplant Motorcycles’ “Ride This!” exhibit, which also brought out members of T.S.O.L., Transplants and the Diffs to its Melrose Avenue location. Among the highlights: veteran pro skater Olson’s collection of skate-punk art and famed motorcycle-builder Jessee’s choppers. Also ran into designer Rebecca Rich, veteran scenester Ali O and chopper builder Scott Craig. Olson has been turning out art for two decades and is also featured in the Duane Peters documentary “Who Cares.” ... And word up to security man Perry E. Cole, who guards L.A. Eyeworks on the overnight shift. He not only broke off a lot of knowledge about God and the Freemasons, but he also found me a much-coveted parking spot (there’s absolutely nowhere to park off Melrose at night).

The party scene is heating up

Latina rapper Doll-E Girl celebrated the release of her new record, “I Got Your Back,” by rocking the mike at Camacho’s in Industry on Friday with pals Mister One, DJ Lady Tribe and Brown Boy, among others.... Tidy up the mop-tops: There’s an Oasis Pub Sing-Along from 8 to 10 tonight at Coach & Horses in Hollywood, to celebrate the release of the band’s greatest- hits collection. Prize for best look-alikes and sing-alikes.... “Black Sabbath Resurrection,” an art and music exhibition and launch party for a new fashion line inspired by the great rock band, opens Friday at 181 N. Martel Ave. At 6 p.m., Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne are expected to host a party, and the exhibit opens to the public Monday and continues through early 2007.... So expect a $25-million renovation complete with a new bar-lounge at Shangri La, an oceanfront hotel in Santa Monica that Tehmina Adaya just inherited from her family. Adaya also owns the indie label So Sweet, which puts out records featuring L.A. and London artists.... Teddy’s hasn’t skipped a beat since its reopening. The hotspot at the Roosevelt Hotel exorcised its demons to end up right on top as a favorite celebrity-scenester hang. Perfect.
