Vivendi profit more than doubles on one-time gain

Vivendi, the French media and telecom company, said third-quarter net profit more than doubled on a one-time gain while a strong performance by its pay television business helped operating profit rise 21%.
Vivendi reported net profit of 1.56 billion euros ($2 billion) for July to September, compared with 646 million euros in the year-earlier period.
Earnings before interest, taxes and amortization, a measure of operating profit, rose to 1.3 billion euros from 1.08 billion euros.
As announced separately last week, revenue increased 3.1% to 4.89 billion euros ($6.25 billion).
Vivendi Games saw operating earnings more than double to 24 million euros.
