Quitting is over the line

Re “The great Canadian flip flop,” Opinion, Nov. 25

I hope that The Times vetted David Drucker’s bona fides pretty carefully, because if Rush Limbaugh set out to create an archetypal “ugly liberal,” he could hardly have done a better job.

In the face of George W. Bush’s ruinous presidency, progressive people of character stayed the course and kept the faith, and ultimately our great country repudiated the policies of this administration. Imagine if all people of supposed goodwill just up and quit every time the going got tough.

I can only encourage Drucker and others like him to stay in Canada. The rest of us will debate, campaign, vote and even fight for a better, stronger America for all of us. The fewer quitters we have around, the better.
