France Is Offered Role in Uranium Enrichment

A top Iranian nuclear official proposed that France create a consortium to enrich uranium in Iran, saying it could satisfy demands for outside oversight of Tehran’s nuclear program.
French officials distanced themselves from the idea, but a European Union official said it was worth a closer look.
Mohammed Saeedi, deputy chief of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, said France could control the enrichment operations.
