Cross-Shaped Piece of Towers Moved to Church
From Times Wire Reports
A cross-shaped steel beam that survived the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on New York City’s World Trade Center to become a symbol of hope was moved from ground zero to a nearby church, accompanied by victims’ families, clergy and construction workers.
The 2-ton, 20-foot-high cross was placed on a flatbed truck for the three-block trip to its temporary home at St. Peter’s Church, which served as a morgue for some Sept. 11 victims. The cross will eventually be incorporated into a memorial.
