Coup Leader Says Martial Law Is Fine

The army chief who staged Thailand’s coup said that martial law was not harming anyone and that lifting it would make it difficult to resolve problems, throwing doubt on the interim premier’s pledge to restore civil liberties soon. Gen. Sondhi Boonyaratkalin took power Sept. 19.
