Israel Orchestra concerts to air

From a Times staff writer

To celebrate its 70th anniversary, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Zubin Mehta, will broadcast 13 internationally aired radio segments, hosted by Itzhak Perlman and featuring performances by Joshua Bell, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Yoel Levi, Pinchas Zukerman, Mehta and other acclaimed soloists and conductors.

“The Heartbeat of a Nation: The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra at 70” will be heard locally on classical music station KMZT-FM (105.1). The first four concerts will air Sundays from 8 to 10 p.m., beginning this weekend.

The orchestra’s celebration will continue with a music festival in Israel and a 2007 winter tour throughout the United States.
