The luck of the St. Louis Rams finally ran out.

Twice this season -- against Arizona and Green Bay -- St. Louis was on the verge of losing, only to be saved by late-game fumbles by opponents. It almost happened again Sunday, but Seattle’s Josh Brown kicked a 54-yard field goal as time expired to give the visiting Seahawks an improbable 30-28 win.

The win put Seattle (4-1) back atop the NFC West, half a game ahead of the Rams (4-2).

Seattle overcame a 21-7 halftime deficit by scoring 20 straight points to go up 27-21.

Then the fun began.

After Marc Bulger’s first interception in 204 attempts this season gave Seattle the ball deep in St. Louis territory, the game seemed over. But Leonard Little stripped Maurice Morris at the St. Louis seven with 2:48 left, and Jimmy Kennedy recovered.

From the St. Louis 33, Bulger delivered Torry Holt’s career-best third touchdown catch.

Seattle responded behind Matt Hasselbeck, who completed 19 of 34 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns.

Starting at the Seattle 17 and with no timeouts, Hasselbeck threw to D.J. Hackett for 14 yards, Darrell Jackson for 19 and Deion Branch for nine. Two runs moved the ball to the St. Louis 31.

Brown then made his third field goal of the game.

New York Giants 27, Atlanta 14 -- Tiki Barber outplayed the NFL’s best ground team by running for 185 yards, Jeremy Shockey caught two touchdown passes and the Giants rallied past the Falcons at Atlanta.

The Giants (3-2) fell behind, 14-3, when Warrick Dunn scored on a 90-yard run on Atlanta’s first offensive play of the second half -- the longest in team history. But New York dominated the Falcons (3-2) afterward, going ahead with touchdown drives of 84 and 91 yards and scoring the game’s final 24 points.

The Falcons’ Michael Vick was sacked seven times.
