Corporate criminals deserve hard penalties

Regarding “Homestore Ex-CEO Sentenced to 15 Years,” Oct. 13:

White-collar crime is stealing paper clips, pens, a stapler, computer paper, etc. When officers of corporations steal millions of dollars, it’s high crime.

Fifteen years in jail is a good sentence, a $5-million fine not nearly enough.

These officers are the worst type of capitalists. They give honest executives black eyes, causing mistrust among customers that eventually affects the bottom line.

Soft treatment of criminals in corporations perpetuates the belief that “I won’t do time, I’m big business.”

My appreciation to the judge. He is on the correct path, and other judges should follow suit.
