Tropical Storm Florence Crawls Toward the U.S.

The sixth tropical storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, Florence, formed in the Atlantic and could become a hurricane as it moves slowly toward the United States, forecasters said in Miami.
Florence had sustained winds near 45 mph, 6 mph over the threshold for a tropical storm. The storm was about 895 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands and was moving west-northwest at about 12 mph.
