Detroit teachers defied a judge’s order to return to work and continued picketing at schools around the city, as their strike began its third week.

The school district, which had hoped to reopen classes today for its 129,000 students after the judge’s order was issued Friday, said its schools would remain closed.

The district, which is seeking $88 million in concessions from the teachers, issued a statement Sunday saying its latest offer called for a three-year contract with a wage cut in only the first year.
