An appreciation of Tony Blair

Share

Re “The ditch Blair project,” editorial, Sept. 9

Anyone who has watched British Prime Minister Tony Blair perform in the House of Commons must certainly admire one of the most articulate politicians in history. I believe in time his tenure will be fondly remembered by the British populace. His position on Iraq was tragically flawed by his failure to anticipate the incompetence of President Bush. I believe that if Blair had been in the driver’s seat, the disastrous mistakes would not have been made.

I don’t get it. When Blair’s buddy, President Bush, is in trouble, Blair comes to our shores to give speeches. But now, when Blair is fighting for his political life, where is Bush? Imagine him giving a speech to the House of Commons. He’d bring the house down, literally.
