A Silicon Valley company has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of exporting computer parts to Iran without a license, marking one of the first criminal convictions for exporting items controlled for national security reasons to that country, the U.S. attorney’s office said.

The U.S. attorney said San Jose-based Supermicro Computer Inc., which agreed to pay a $150,000 fine, admitted to selling 300 motherboards in 2001 and 2002 to a United Arab Emirates company, knowing they would be shipped to Iran.
