Speaking the truth, in English

I am an American with an Asian appearance who can relate to Cindy Chang’s story [“Just Consider Her the Girl Next Door,” Aug. 17]. The main thing I can relate to is the feeling of being “hopelessly flustered.”

At times I can feel myself wanting to curse out the person who asks, “Do you speak English?” Or I ask myself, “Do I simply roll with the punch and take it?”

This has been one of the best articles regarding racism toward the Asian culture in current times. I am glad there has been at least one writer who has been so open about it.
