Wife gets the house, er, listing

Shelby Roos Arnold just got her real estate license and already landed her first mega listing: a five-bedroom, 9,000-square-foot Beverly Hills-area home, priced at nearly $7.9 million.

It’s a tall order even for a seasoned agent, but Arnold, 34, has an edge. It’s been her home with husband Tom Arnold for four years. They are now legally separated.

The actor, comedian and writer bought the contemporary Mediterranean in January 2002. He married Shelby five months later. Since then, they’ve restored and expanded the 1990 house, which is in a gated development.

The home has nine bathrooms, room-sized closets, a master-bedroom suite, three guest bedrooms, a maid’s room, a gym, a pool, a basement, a bar, an office, a spa and a large lawn.

The Arnolds rented during the renovations, but when construction was completed and they had added about 2,400 square feet to the house, they realized that they missed the intimacy of a smaller dwelling -- plus they are splitting.

In August, the 47-year-old actor, who was married for nearly four years in the early ‘90s to comic actress Roseanne Barr and then to makeup artist-actress Julie Champnella for another four years, filed papers in a L.A. Superior Court for a legal separation from Shelby, his third wife. Tom Arnold’s attorney is asking that the Beverly Hills home and premarital earnings be excluded from their joint property even though there was no prenuptial agreement.

Tom Arnold, who starred in more than one of his own TV shows, is working on several films, including “Oranges,” co-starring Heather Locklear, Tom Sizemore and Jill Hennessy. It’s due out in 2007. In 2005, he starred in the movie “Happy Endings,” opposite Maggie Gyllenhaal and Lisa Kudrow, and in “The Kid & I,” a comedy he wrote for a 16-year-old family friend with cerebral palsy.

Shelby Arnold and Stephen Shapiro share the listing at Westside Estate Agency, Beverly Hills.

‘Days’ in Bel-Air home numbered

Soap queen Deidre Hall and her estranged husband, writer-producer Steve Sohmer, are believed to have cleaned up on the sale of their Bel-Air home, most recently listed at nearly $8.5 million. The couple bought the 6,800-square-foot walled and gated house in 1992 from comedian Bob Newhart for about $3 million.

The English country-style home, built in 1932, was designed by architect Gerald Colcord and has six bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, a den with a pub, an office, a playroom, an outdoor living room overlooking a pool, a separate guesthouse and a sports court.

Since the house was bought, the family has grown with the addition of two children.

Hall has enjoyed longevity as an actress as well as a homeowner. Earlier this year, the actress, 58, marked her 30th year since taking the role of psychiatrist Marlena Evans on the NBC daytime drama “Days of Our Lives.”

Rappers move into MTV set

Oscar winners DJ Paul and Juicy J of the group Three 6 Mafia have moved from Memphis, Tenn., to Hollywood, where their new home will be the set of the MTV project “Holly-Hood,” focusing on the rap artists as they settle into L.A.

They plan to lease the home for a year. Recently listed for sale at just under $4 million, the gated villa has six bedrooms and 6 1/2 bathrooms in 8,000 square feet. It also has three fireplaces, a wet bar, walls of glass, an infinity pool and a spa overlooking the city.

DJ Paul, Juicy J and Crunchy Black won an Academy Award for best original song with their hit single “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp,” featured in the 2005 film “Hustle & Flow.”

Ed Kaminsky of Sport Star Relocation led the search for the home, which had been listed with Leah Porter of Coldwell Banker.

Juggling comedy and a remodel

Mitch and Jana Hunter have a lot going on these days. Not only are they co-executive producers of the new ABC fall comedy series “Notes From the Underbelly,” but they also have sold their Hollywood Dell-area home for its asking price of nearly $1.2 million.

The buyer is Christine Chiappetta, a vice president at Island Def Jam Music Group.

The Hunters extensively renovated the 1963 contemporary-style home, installing a new kitchen and bathrooms. The 2,050-square-foot residence has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a den and two decks with canyon and city views

Before the Hunters became executive producers of the new series, they were writers-producers on “The Drew Carrey Show.”

Cynthia Land at Sotheby’s International Realty, Sunset Strip, had the listing; Cindy Baker and Joe Reichling of the same office represented the buyer.

Live where Errol Flynn partied

A party Hollywood Hills house owned by stand-up comic-actor Pauly Shore is available for rent.

The Spanish-style home, owned by party animal-actor Errol Flynn in the ‘40s, has four bedrooms and a tiled entertainment terrace with city views. The lease is $9,000 a month.

There is also a one-bedroom apartment that could be included in the lease for a total of about $12,000 a month.

The gated compound also has a two-car garage and plenty of parking, according to the listing agent.

It’s near the Comedy Store above Sunset Strip. The Comedy Store is owned by Shore’s mother, Mitzi.

Shore, 38, recently filmed an episode of “Entourage” and is planning a stand-up tour this fall.

Lynn Teschner of Coldwell Banker, Beverly Hills South, represents Shore in the lease.
