A Dash of Zappa

Sunday is National Punctuation Day. “How,” you’ll undoubtedly ask, “will you celebrate?” Of course! By using 11 key punctuation marks: the apostrophe; colon; comma; dash (our out-and-out favorite); exclamation point; hyphen; parentheses; period; question mark; quotation mark; and semicolon, which is much misunderstood--just as we did right there. We’ll then kick back with “The Central Scrutinizer” by Frank Zappa, at right. The song speaks of a guy with “exhaust hoses” that “propel him and punctuate his dialogue with horrible smelling smoke rings.” We prefer the dashes ourselves.
