19 held in alleged Hamas bomb plot

A Hamas militant drove a powerful car bomb into the Tel Aviv area last month but returned to the West Bank without carrying out an attack, Israel’s Shin Bet security service said.
Shin Bet said the militant is a member of a Hamas cell in the West Bank city of Kalkilya, near central Israel.
Shin Bet said it had detained 19 members of the cell suspected of involvement in the alleged plot.
Hamas, an Islamist group that heads the Palestinian unity government, declined to comment on the allegations.
