THREE world premieres, star power and an eclectic vibe fuel the Orange County Performing Arts Center’s 2007-08 season, to be announced today.

Russian prima ballerina Diana Vishneva highlights the center’s international dance series, which will showcase her contemporary side in the world premiere of “Diana Vishneva: Beauty in Motion” (Feb. 12-17). Joined by the orchestra and corps de ballet of the National Ballet of the Ukraine, Vishneva will perform works by Bolshoi Ballet artistic director Alexei Ratmansky, Momix company head Moses Pendleton and La La Human Steps artistic director Edouard Lock.

Also on the 2008 dance roster: the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (March 11-16), Teatro Alla Scala Ballet (June 17-22) and American Ballet Theatre (July 29-Aug. 3). The series will open with Tango Buenos Aires (Nov. 8-11) in its center debut.

The concert series offers a world premiere by the noted new-music sextet eighth blackbird. “The Only Moving Thing” (April 15, 2008), a center co-commission, will team the kinetic instrumental ensemble with composers David Lang, Michael Gordon and Julia Wolfe and New York choreographer Susan Marshall.

Other offerings include the Emerson String Quartet (Oct. 25), the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (Nov. 13), the Belcea String Quartet (Jan. 26), violinist Joshua Bell (Feb. 23) and Andrew Manze and the Helsingborg Symphony (April 2).

Tony Award winners Victoria Clark (Oct. 11-14), Sutton Foster (Feb. 14-17), Brian Stokes Mitchell (March 6-9) and James Naughton (April 10-13, 2008) head the center’s cabaret series. Also slated: Stefanie Powers (Nov. 8-11), Lorenzo Lamas (Jan. 17-20) and a joint appearance by John Schneider and Tom Wopat (May 10, 2008).

The jazz series’ mix of established talents and up-and-comers includes a world premiere from the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, “Celebrating Benny Carter’s 100th Birthday” (Nov. 24). The family series features homegrown music-makers Trout Fishing in America (Oct. 19-21) and Britain’s Big Wooden Horse theater company (April 4-6, 2008).

Performances will take place in the center’s Segerstrom Hall, Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall and Samueli Theater. OCPAC’s 2007-08 Broadway and “Curtain Call” series were previously announced. Details can be found at www.ocpac.org.
