Scandal at the World Bank

Re “Wolfowitz says he won’t be resigning,” April 16
Apparently it will take a relatively small lapse in judgment, not murder, to bring down World Bank President Paul D. Wolfowitz. As the prime architect of the Iraq invasion, Wolfowitz is responsible for thousands of deaths, untold destruction and squandering our national treasury as well as international credibility. Whatever happens to him at the World Bank is a slap on the wrist compared to the damage he has caused. He’ll find another job; we’ll be stuck with the debts, chaos and divisions for years to come.

The World Bank scandal is about poor judgment, not politics. Wolfowitz has consistently shown poor judgment: first in the run-up to the disastrous Iraq war and now in his kleptocratic reign at the World Bank. He has alienated his staff as well as the European Union. What he did is immoral, if it is not strictly illegal. A decent man would step down.
