Opera tickets discounted
Los Angeles Opera will offer specially priced $20 tickets for all seats available at the May 18 performance of George Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess” and the May 20 performance of Franz Lehar’s “The Merry Widow.”
“I have always believed that it is very important for us to make opera accessible to as many people as possible,” L.A. Opera general director Placido Domingo said Tuesday. “If this proves a success, we hope to again offer an introduction to opera in our upcoming seasons.”
L.A. Opera tickets typically range from $30 to $220. Seats in these price ranges are available for other performances of “Porgy and Bess” and “The Merry Widow.” The $20 tickets go on sale today at (213) 972-8001 and www.laopera.com.
