Update -- It was the Storm that handed the Sparks their worst loss of the season, 82-47, on July 10. In that game, the Sparks ended with a franchise-record-low point total after making only 29.9% of their field-goal attempts, their second-worst shooting performance of the year. The Seattle player most responsible for that was forward Lauren Jackson, a leading candidate for the league’s most valuable player award. She has averaged just over 25 points and nine rebounds against the Sparks, who, in contrast, averaged 21 turnovers in the teams’ three games. The Storm, playing its regular-season finale, clinched its fourth consecutive playoff berth last week.
