Update -- The Sparks play their last game of the season, and no matter what happens will post their worst record in franchise history. The Sparks, who were 12-18 in 1998, have dropped seven of their last eight games, the last a 97-77 setback at Seattle despite 25 points and five rebounds by rookie of the year candidate Sidney Spencer on Friday. The availability of point guard Temeka Johnson, who has sat out the last four games because of an injured right ankle, will be a game-time decision. The Comets, who got a season-high 33 points from Tina Thompson in an 81-70 loss to Chicago on Thursday, might have the services of star forward Sheryl Swoopes for the first time since May 29. Comets Coach Karleen Thompson expressed hope in a report published Friday in the Houston Chronicle that Swoopes, who has missed all but three games because of a back problem, might be available for the team’s season finale.
