The circus gets a new bounce

Share

Ever exploring ways to push the circus arts envelope, Canada’s Cirque du Soleil celebrates its 20th anniversary in the United States with its new touring show, “Corteo,” presented under the company’s signature blue-and-yellow Grand Chapiteau. Created and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, the acrobatic, tragicomic spectacular -- with a cast of 61 artists from 16 countries -- takes place during a festive funeral procession watched over by angels as a clown imagines his own funeral.

“Corteo,” the Forum, 3900 W. Manchester Blvd., Inglewood. Opens 8 tonight. Runs 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, 4 and 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 1 and 5 p.m. Sundays; ends Sept. 23. (Also at Orange County Fair and Exposition Center in Costa Mesa beginning Nov. 8.) $55 to $90. (800) 678-5440; www.cirquedusoleil.com.
