Citigroup Inc.’s board will meet next week to choose a new chief executive, with Vikram Pandit among front-runners for the job, Dow Jones Newswires said, citing unidentified people familiar with the situation.
Pandit heads the institutional clients group. There is no guarantee that Pandit will be named when the board meets Monday and Tuesday, Dow Jones reported. Former Chairman and CEO Charles Prince resigned Nov. 4 from New York-based Citigroup.
Citigroup’s board also may select a permanent chairman, the news service said. Former Treasury Secretary Robert E. Rubin is interim chairman.
