4 Islamic militants are sentenced

An Indonesian court sentenced four Islamic militants to as much as 19 years in prison for terrorist acts, including the beheading of three Christian schoolgirls and a deadly market bombing.

Mohammed Basri, Arbin Djanatu, Iwan Ridwan and Tugiran were found guilty of violating the country’s anti-terrorism law. Basri was sentenced to 19 years after he was convicted in the 2005 beheading of three high school students and the shooting of a priest and two students.

The others were sentenced to 14 years each for illegal arms possession and involvement in the 2005 bombing of a market in the Christian-dominated town of Tentena that killed 22 people.
