‘Life and death’ restores the ‘our’

Re “A life and death, raw,” Opinion, Dec. 23

As a lifelong resident of Los Angeles and reader of The Times, I, like many other members of the community, have wondered, “How can our Los Angeles Times better make connections with the very separate members and cultures of our community and generate information that will help us make connection?”

My use of the term “our” referring to The Times is the first time in a very long time that I considered the paper “ours,” and the reason is this magnificent article.

The article brought the voices of the black community to the total community. Making such an Internet-print connection should allow all citizens to feel real ownership of our total community and, hopefully, allow all of us to take actions to help it become safe and stronger, as many in the article wished. Absent such an Internet-print connection, those wishes go unheard.
