The media’s job
IN his column of Jan. 27 [“Cheney’s Staff, and a Useful Press”], Tim Rutten, in his typically clear and efficient way, discusses the complicity of the press in the lies and delusions perpetuated by the Bush administration leading up to the war on Iraq. The tens of thousands of Americans and Iraqis who have since been maimed or killed might be alive and well today if the press had functioned as it should.
