Smith’s final film is not an easy sell
Unless a theatrical distributor makes a surprise bid for Anna Nicole Smith’s last film, “Illegal Aliens” will debut on home video in May, distributor MTI Home Video and a producer of the film said Tuesday.
Executive producer John James said several theatrical distributors had expressed interest in the film but none committed to releasing it in theaters.
That situation did not change after Smith died Thursday, James said. “I can’t tell you how hard it’s been to sell this movie,” he said.
In the film, Smith plays a space alien who takes the form of a blond bombshell when visiting Earth. Smith was one of the film’s investors, and some of the screenplay was rewritten by her son Daniel, who died last September.
