Police and insurgents clashed after a bombing in southeastern Iran near where an explosion killed 11 members of the elite Revolutionary Guard this week, Iranian news agencies reported.

The semiofficial Fars agency quoted the governor of Zahedan city, Hasan Ali Nouri, as saying the blast Friday was a “sound bomb explosion” -- a device that usually causes no casualties.

A Sunni Muslim militant group called Jundallah has claimed responsibility for Wednesday’s fatal bombing.
