Yap’s place in WWII history

A significant piece of history was omitted in Avital Binshtock’s story of her visit to the Micronesian island Yap [“Paradise, If You Can Find It,” Feb.11].

During World War II, Japanese-held Yap was used for the deployment of bombers aimed at U.S. ships in the Pacific. In return, U.S. ships and aircraft bombed Yap.
