Actor-directors dissed by DGA

I only hope the academy doesn’t ignore Clint Eastwood’s monumental Iwo Jima movies “Flags of Our Fathers” and “Letters From Iwo Jima,” and Robert De Niro’s dark masterpiece about the birth of the CIA, “The Good Shepherd,” the way the Directors Guild of America has [“Directors Note Teamwork,” by Susan King, Jan. 10]. When actors like Eastwood and De Niro do work this ambitious, they should not be overlooked by people who should know better.
