It may be cold outside, but the pants are hot

Ladies, I have excellent news: The boys are wearing tight pants again. I’m not just talking about the indie, slickster, rocker and mod boys; I’m talking about the B-boys. For an example, check the crowd at Zanzibar in Santa Monica on a Sunday night. As KCRW-FM DJ Garth Trinidad and Mr. French host One Way, a soulful dance party that features a 40-minute James Brown set (good God!), we witnessed break dancers get down in pants so tight it reminded us of that wonderful era known as “disco.” Have mercy.... And speaking of tight pants, the hot costume of the month award goes to the babes of Area. The La Cienega Boulevard nightclub is rife with ‘60s-style vixens in hot pants.... And while we’re on the subject, we chanced into Vanguard on Hollywood Boulevard recently and noticed that the gals there don’t even bother wearing the hot pants under the tunics.

Excellent dish for clubbers: Loyal Pennings, DJ AM and partner John Terzian are teaming up to open a sexy piano lounge on Hollywood Boulevard in June. The 8,000-square-foot venue is across from the Roosevelt Hotel and features a courtyard reminiscent of the Skybar. For the interior, visualize “The Fabulous Baker Boys.” The yet-to-be-named lounge is the second pairing between Pennings and AM (Adam Goldstein), who brought us the LAX nightclub.... And speaking of LAX, rocker Perry Farrell held a private party there Tuesday night so friends could sample his latest album from his new group, Satellite Party, which features such collaborators as Flea and John Frusciante from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas and Peter Hook from New Order.... Mr. Choc and DJ Hapa rocked the turntables at the Bridge at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica on Friday night. The neo-soul scene was so cool, I could’ve sworn Q-Tip was in the house.... Queen Latifah and Jane Kaczmarek were among the diners at Koi in WeHo last Thursday.

Toluca Lake has a new hot spot called Lucy’s 51, a bar/lounge that’s been visited by Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jesse Metcalfe, Scott Weiland and Laurence Fishburne.... Lava Lounge owner Michelle Marini is merging with Vintage Bar Group (the Well, NoBar, Daddy’s) to revamp the Lava, which will shut down at the end of February and is expected to reopen with a new name in May.... Scenester Carlotta Espinosa says Winstons -- a lounge on Santa Monica Boulevard from the folks behind the Dime -- is her new favorite sweet spot.... And speaking of sweet, Paris Hilton looked hot at the post-Golden Globes party at Trader Vic’s in Beverly Hills on Monday; the shindig was hosted by Harvey Weinstein and Weinstein Co. The slinky vixen out-glammed such luminaries as Bai Ling, Jamie Foxx, Rose McGowan and Sienna Miller -- although the wild mane Naveen Andrews sported was so hot, he came in at a close second.
