Driving hybrids might save lives as well as fuel

Too bad your well-written article on the merits of hybrid ownership was not placed on the front page (“Hybrid autos save money in long run, study finds,” Jan. 8).

As the owners of two Toyota Motor Corp. hybrids (2004 Prius and 2005 Highlander), my husband and I can attest to what great vehicles they are. It was nice to find out that we’re really saving money in addition to the planet.

However, the main motivation for our choice was to help end all those coffins coming home from the Middle East. Think about your next car choice.
