BUZZ CLUBS

He’ll give Vynyl’s address a spin

Many club owners have attempted to get rid of the ghosts of Vynyl’s past. Remember Moguls? Then Hollywood Moguls? Club 1650, anyone? The nightclub on Schrader below Hollywood Boulevard has had various face-lifts, but nothing’s stuck. But it looks like David Judaken may have a winner on his hand. Make that two, actually. The nightlife impresario who brought the town Mood and Garden of Eden debuts two new venues, Opera and Crimson, at the former Vynyl location later this month. Expect high theater at Opera, which includes a towering entry adorned with hand-blown amber glass, loads of archways and walls decked out with ultra-suede. Adjacent to Opera, you can bang your head at Crimson, a rock ‘n’ roll-inspired lounge where you can expect servers dolled up as Catholic school girls (or maybe reform school girls) working in an environment that includes faux chinchilla and python-skin walls, smoked mirrors with embedded tattoo carvings and a crimson, glass tile ceiling.

But then, who’d pass up a Taco?

Although the fire marshal shut down Pink Taco’s splashy opening party last Thursday a bit early, those who joined owner Harry Morton at the new Century City rock ‘n’ roll restaurant included his father Peter Morton, Jessica Alba, Tommy Lee, Amy Smart, Michelle Rodriguez, Kimberly Stewart, Kelly Clarkson, Slash, Matt Sorum, Ron Jeremy and about a dozen celebutantes.... New favorite bar: Renee’s Courtyard Cafe in Santa Monica. The open-air lounge is set in a turn-of-the-last-century house at Wilshire and 5th, and the crowd is a sweet mix of locals and hipsters. They offer a mean fig and prosciutto pizza, and Tuesdays are two-for-one drink nights. Cheers.
